Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a neurological condition that creates uncomfortable sensations in the extremities, leading to a strong urge to move the legs. Most people with restless legs syndrome find that the symptoms increase at night or during periods of inactivity. The condition may cause involuntary jerking of the legs during sleep and this nightime motion is called periodic leg movements of sleep.
The person with restless legs syndrome often experiences difficulty in falling or staying asleep, followed by daytime tiredness or fatigue.
